  <dc:description xml:lang="ita">La mappa è un vero e proprio compendio geografico e astronomico. Intorno a ogni emisfero si trovano ampie bande di testo in inglese che illustrano i principi della geografia e dell’astronomia. In aggiunta, è circondata da cinque diagrammi non colorati che rappresentano: gli anelli e le cinque lune di Saturno, il sistema solare nel suo insieme, Giove con le sue quattro lune, le stagioni dell’anno e i fenomeni delle eclissi solari e lunari.
Il fine della mappa era chiaramente didattico: permette all’osservatore di comprendere il funzionamento della latitudine e della longitudine, di prevedere la posizione apparente del Sole in qualsiasi giorno e di calcolare la durata del giorno in base alla stagione.</dc:description>
