Marine Tetrabranchiata.
1) Nautilus. Planispiral, external, exogastric shell, with perforated septa through which a cord of living tissue called a siphuncle goes, which extends from the visceral mass. At the anterior end a circle of tentacles are covered by a hood.
Dibranchiata. 4) Spirula, living in deep waters, with an internal coiled shell (5).
Argonauta (Octopoda). 6, 7) Male with a modified arm as an intromittent organ, called a hectocotylus, closed in a bag and evaginated.
8) Female with its coiled nidamental shell.
10) Spermatophore.
