Sacculina carcini and its life cycle.
1) Portion of the body containing reproductive system (externa) comes out from the abdomen of the crab and grows in the host injecting thick rootlike absorptive processes (interna). These organisms are highly modified parasites of crabs, causing castration and sexual inversion.
2-6) Nauplius larva and subsequent larval stages which penetrate in the host.
