1) Cardium, lateral view of the general anatomy, after removal of left valve: heterodont valve (6, 7). One can see well the wide mantle with two siphons, the incurrent and the excurrent one, in the posterior end; the eulamellibranch ctenidium; dorsal heart; digestive system with stomach and digestive gland; gonad; two valve adductor muscles; the red foot.
2) View from the dorsal portion of the pericardial cavity.
3) Schematic representation of the internal anatomy of Teredo.
4) Teredo, a bivalve that burrows in wood: a small shell and two siphons are visible.
5) Initial bivalve veliger larva.
