PHAIDRA – Digital collections

Il Tolomeo first saw the light of day in 1995, the creation of a group of postcolonial scholars; now, twenty years later, it has gone digital, a open access publication for Edizioni Ca’ Foscari.
From the outset the journal provided a natural home for postcolonial voices from both the francophone and the anglophone world and a mutual space in which they could converse.
Il Tolomeo has always been a somewhat unorthodox publication which has fought its battles against skeptics and conservatives. It reflects the directions taken in a field of research which is still in the making, and which is extraordinarily innovative.
Many well-known names have featured in the pages of the journal, in passionate interviews and significant unpublished pieces, some of which have been translated into Italian.
With this issue we can with some justification claim that, after cultural maturity, Il Tolomeo has now reached full academic maturity. Long may it continue!
