Special collections: old and rare books of Ca' Foscari
The collection draws together the oldest and most valuable materials from across university collections such as rare editions which were purchased, bequeathed or donated to enrich the bibliographic and historical heritage of the University.
We decided to digitize our historical collections in order to preserve valuable documents (which cannot be easily accessed by scholars and library users ) and to make them available because of their scientific, historical and cultural importance.
The first items of the collection are from BAUM:
Biblioteca di Area Umanistica. Libri rari di Archeologia
They are a selection of ancient books from the Archaeology Collection of the Humaties Library (BAUM). They were chosen because they are of great interest for the Classical Studies scholars and they are not yet freely available online.
