Statement pursuant to Art. 13 of Italian Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003

Pursuant to Art. 13 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 relating to rulings on the protection of personal data, users are hereby informed that personal data provided voluntarily by visitors to the University of Padova Library Centre will be handled using such measures as are suitable for ensuring the security and privacy of said data, in compliance with the aforementioned decree.

1. Scope of data handling and processes used

1.1. Browsing data

As part of their normal operation, the computer systems used for the provision of the phaidra.cab.unipd.it website automatically acquire a number of personal data that are transferred as standard when employing certain online communication protocols. These data include non-personal identification information about visitors, such as the IP addresses and domain names of the computers they use to access phaidra.cab.unipd.it. These data are collected for the purposes of statistical analysis and to help improve the browsing experience of visitors to the phaidra.cab.unipd.it website.

1.2. Cookies

The phaidra.cab.unipd.it website uses cookies, short strings of code sent by the website server to the visitor’s browser and automatically saved on the visitor’s computer. The purpose of these cookies is to improve the user experience – for instance by saving the viewing settings used when visiting the site – or to carry out statistical analysis, and this with the sole scope of improving the services on offer. They are not used for any other purpose, and are installed directly by the parties operating the phaidra.cab.unipd.it website.
It is advised, therefore, that users adjust their browser settings to accept cookies from the site. Most browsers are set to accept cookies by default. However, visitors may autonomously change their browser settings to block cookies (see point 1.2.1 “Disabling cookies (opt-out)”.

1.2.1. Disabling cookies (opt-out)

Users can reject the use of cookies by adjusting their browser settings accordingly (the portal will remain fully functional in the case of non-authenticated browsing). There follows a list of links that explain how to disable cookies on commonly used browsers (in the event a different browser is used, it is recommended that the user investigate the options for disabling cookies, which are usually accessed by pressing F1 on the keyboard):

1.3 Purposes of data handling

The data collected are handled with the exclusive purpose of carrying out statistical analysis, and this with the intention of improving the services offered.

1.4. Handling of data

Data handling processes will include both manual processes and electronic, or otherwise automated processes, and may include, pursuant to the conditions and limits set out in Art. 11 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/03, all or any combination of the processes indicated in Art. 4(1)(a) of Italian Legislative Decree 196/03, i.e. the collection, recording, organisation, retention, interrogation, processing, modification, selection, retrieval, comparison, utilisation, interconnection, blocking, communication, deletion or destruction of data.

2. Communication and dissemination of data

The data collected will not be communicated or disseminated to third parties, unless in cases specifically indicated in the privacy statement and/or required by law, and will in all cases be consistent with the methods permitted by the privacy statement and by law.

It is possible that personal data may be revealed to individuals responsible for, or employed in, the handling of said data as part of their duties; in all cases, this will occur in a manner that is consistent with the instructions received, and purely for the specific purposes indicated in this privacy statement.

3. Rights of data subjects

In relation to the data in question, data subjects may exercise the rights provided by Art. 7 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003, doing so pursuant to the limits and conditions provided by Arts. 8, 9 and 10 of the same legislative decree by writing to segreteria@cab.unipd.it.

4. Data controller and data supervisor
