Marine, freshwater and rarely terrestrial animals.
These crustaceans are usually compressed laterally, lack a carapace, have sessile compound eyes, and their thoracic and abdominal limbs are arranged in two groups, the anterior limbs forward, the posterior ones backwards.
1) Gammaridae: internal and external anatomy. A dorsal heart with ostia, digestive system with the digestive gland, ventral nerve cord are evident.
2) Transverse section at the level of thorax.
3) Mouth appendages.
4) A developmental stage.
5) Phronimidae: internal and external morphology. The fifth pair of the walking legs is modified to form a great chela.
6) Caprellidae: a vestigial abdomen, slender body and appendages.
