A Common Artu: The Columbia Western 24 and the 'Mort Artu' in Italy
Descrizione
The mid-thirteenth- to late fourteenth-century witnesses to the Italian tradition of the French-language work, La Mort le Roi Artu, appear both textually and geographically integrated. Adding a seventh manuscript into this repertoire, the Columbia RMBL Western 24, does little to change this perception of textual and geographic cohesion. However, disparities in the material presentation of the work across the seven witnesses to the corpus reveal the range of expectations for the final consumers of these copies of the Mort Artu in the northern Italian francophone context.
