Marine Cnidaria with polyps. Polypoid forms with calcareous (aragonite) skeleton, which is secreted by the ectodermic epithelium of the lower half of the polyp column; thus, both in the solitary polyps and in the colonial ones, polyps are partially included in a calcareous cup.
